Krystyna Andrecki

Born in Tanzania, East Africa, Krystyna Teresa Andrecki is the daughter of a Polish family who endured exile in Siberia during World War II, later finding refuge through Iran before resettling in Africa. She went on to establish herself in Australia as a respected artist and cultural contributor.

A Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts, Krystyna has been an exhibiting member for over 45 years. Her artistic training includes studies with Dr. Jolly Koh, Chelsea Lehmann, Daryl Austin, and many others, earning a Certificate in Expressive Painting and broad experience across disciplines from life drawing to silk painting.

Her achievements include multiple SALA Awards (2010, 2011), the RSASA President’s Excellence Award (2018), and recognition on International Women’s Day 2024 with the Quiet Achievers Award. She also received Poland’s Gold Cross of Merit (1999) for her service to the Polish community.

Deeply engaged in cultural life, Krystyna has organized over 30 Dożynki exhibitions, PolArt events, and concerts, while also contributing to theatre design and community arts. An active member of the Australian Polish Art Society and Koło Polek, she continues to celebrate both her heritage and her passion for the arts.
