Adam Romanowski

Born in 1955 in Poland, Adam Romanowski is a professional photographer with a Diploma in Commercial Photography. After migrating to Australia, he began photography studies in Adelaide in 1986 and went on to work with several agencies, specialising in weddings, sporting events, and social occasions.

In addition to his professional work, Romanowski has been an active volunteer within Polish and Australian parishes of the Adelaide Diocese. His career also includes 24 years as a photographer with South Australia Police, a role that encompassed public events, media photojournalism, and many unique challenges.

Adam has been accredited to photograph a number of national and international events. Highlights include working with the Polish National Women’s Basketball Team prior to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and the Polish National Men’s Volleyball Team. He has also covered major Volleyball World League matches, including Poland vs. Australia (1999), Australia vs. Belgium (2016), and Australia vs. Italy, on behalf of the FIVB (The International Volleyball Federation) and Volleyball Australia.

His portfolio also extends to Adelaide motorsports, including the Clipsal 500 and the Superloop Adelaide 500, as well as soccer teams Polonia Adelaide and Adelaide United. In 2014, he was honoured to photograph the visit of Prince William and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, during the Royal Tour of Australia.

Romanowski’s photography also offers an intimate reflection of Polish culture, drawing from his heritage to explore and celebrate its rich traditions. Through his lens, he focuses particularly on the intricate details and symbolic elements of traditional Polish costumes, revealing their craftsmanship and cultural significance.
