I was born in a small town in Poland - Sulejów. It was there, as a young girl, that I began to write poetry. My love for words blossomed through performing in amateur theatre and reciting poems in secondary school competitions.
When I left Poland for some time, the words fell silent. I no longer felt the call to write - my poetic soul grew quiet. After migrating to Australia, my life turned toward study and work, eventually leading me into the world of accounting—a world far removed from where my poetry lived.
Though my poetic voice lay silent, I did my best to keep the creative flame alive. Whenever inspiration struck, I wrote. I became the coordinator of a drama group at the Polish Family Club in Melbourne, writing plays for children of all ages. Together, they performed for the community, speaking and singing beautifully in Polish. The Club was a home for Polish culture and pride, nurturing our traditions, our language, and our roots. There were sports, theatre, family excursions, and a sense of belonging. For a time, I also taught at a Polish Saturday school.
Life kept moving forward.
At the age of 50, I changed my profession and in doing so, found a deeper personal fulfillment. Slowly, my poetic voice returned, at first as faint murmurs.
Moments of beauty, places I was fortunate to visit, and the emotional journeys that shaped me became my inspiration.
My poems returned as a quiet outlet, capturing what had long lived unspoken within me.
Each poem is different - just as life can be.
