Bogumił Drozdowski has been living in Australia since 1980. He spent the first 21 years in Adelaide and now resides in Sydney.
He has always been drawn to poetry, particularly satirical verse, and delights in reading anything that can bring a smile to his face and spirit. His interests include theatre, cabaret, musicals, classical music, choral music, sung poetry, satirical poetry on social and political topics, and a good Shiraz red wine. He also enjoys history, especially that of Poland and Europe.
His favourite poets and performers include Jonasz Kofta, Jacek Kaczmarski, Andrzej Waligórski, Agnieszka Osiecka, Wojciech Młynarski, and Andrzej Poniedzielski. His hobbies range from choir and theatre to cabaret, gardening, and antiques restoration.
Bogumił has been writing poetry for more than 30 years. Initially for himself, he composed satirical and lyrical poems, ballads, melorecitations, epigrams, limericks, and lyrics with music for theatre and cabaret. As he notes, life itself writes his poems — he simply observes, listens, analyses, and takes notes.
He published a collection of poems, Maskarada plus, illustrated by Witek Skonieczny. He is also a member of the Sydney Poets’ Club Poetralia.
