Teatr Fantazja

Teatr Fantazja has been operating for 22 years and is the only Polish Dramatic Theatre in Sydney. It is primarily funded by sponsors and collaborates with designers, musicians, visual artists, and film directors. As a community theatre, it focuses exclusively on Polish literature, bringing it to life on stage.

The Artistic Director is Joanna Borkowska-Surucić, a graduate of the Polish Film Academy in film editing and the Australian Film & Radio School in video editing. Under her leadership, Teatr Fantazja has staged a wide range of productions, from classics of Polish theatre to modern plays.

The group has performed at PolArt, the Polish cultural festival, in Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide, and Perth, as well as in productions marking significant anniversaries in Polish history.

Recent productions include:
• Roszada (Castling)
• Klub Kobiet Porzuconych (Abandoned Women’s Club)
• Grzechy Starości – wariacje na temat (Sins of Old Age – Variations on a Theme)
• Damy i Huzary (Dames and Hussars)
• Branch (Brunch)
• Dali (in English)
• Wstyd (Shame)

Creative work brings us joy and fulfilment — it weaves us together in our shared love for the theatre.
