The Polish Folklore Ensemble ‘Tatry’ Adelaide was established in 1958 and has since built a proud legacy of performance and cultural celebration within Australia’s Polish community. Over the years, the group has staged countless concerts—both locally and interstate—and has twice represented Australia at the prestigious International Folkloric Festivals in Rzeszów, Poland.
Tatry has been a consistent presence at every PolArt Festival since its inception in Sydney in 1975. The ensemble holds an extensive collection of regional costumes from across Poland, enabling a rich and varied repertoire of traditional music and dance. Among these, the highland dances are especially close to the group’s heart. Not only for their energy and spirit, but also because they reflect the Ensemble’s namesake, the Tatra Mountains.
Today, Tatry includes over 100 members, across three junior groups and a senior performing group, each contributing to the celebration and preservation of Polish cultural heritage. Tatry is honoured and excited to be the host group for this year’s PolArt festival.
