'Lajkonik' Sydney

Passion, energy, commitment and love of Polish tradition and culture. This is the essence of Polish Song and Dance Ensemble 'Lajkonik' Sydney, established 35 years ago. The Ensemble has both senior and junior groups as well as a Senior Choir. Urszula Lang is the foundress/Artistic Director, assisted by a management committee. The Ensemble President is Abigail Latecka.

The Ensemble regularly performs in Festivals in NSW, interstate and also Poland and Lithuania on 6 separate occasions, including the Rzeszow Festival and Tydzien Kultury Beskidzkiej.

Lajkonik’s artistic repertoire is unique, created by various specialist choreographers from Poland as well as Urszula’s own choreographies.  The Ensemble is popular for its indefatigable contribution to Polish and multicultural community life in Sydney with regular weddings performances.

Lajkonik is the only Ensemble in history to have performed Polish folk dance on the summit of Mt Kosciuszko as part of its collaborative work with Kosciuszko Heritage Incorporated. Lajkonik has performed in every State and Territory of Australia as well as New Zealand.
