Robert Bartnik

Born to Polish parents, Robert is a self-taught artist based in Adelaide. He works mainly in graphite and focuses on naturalism and realism. His drawings often depict architecture, urban scenes, and elements of the natural world. With a background in history, he pays close attention to fine detail and structure. He particularly enjoys drawing gum trees, which feature often in his work.He has developed his skills gradually through regular practice and observation. In 2024 and 2025, he was a finalist in the Solar Art Prize, which encouraged him to begin exhibiting and framing his work more extensively. He sees drawing as a way to study the world more closely and to record what might otherwise go unnoticed.Since 2003, Robert has been active with the Australian-Polish Arts Society of SA and began exhibiting with the group in 2024. He is also a member of the Royal SA Society of Arts and has recently begun carrying out historical work for the Society. Robert continues to develop his practice and stays involved in the wider art community.
