Barbara Wieckowski

I have been a member of the Embroiderers’ Guild NSW since 2013. My biggest achievement has been to successfully complete the Contemporary Stitch and Design Course, gaining confidence to design and complete my own work.

Since then I have become a member of the Design Divas Group within the Guild and with the Group I have exhibited my work at Gallery76- EGNSW in 2022, 2023 and at Concord Library in 2024.

My inspiration comes from my Polish heritage and its folklore, which provides me with an outlook at the knowledge my ancestors had before technology.

As I was born outside of Poland my life experience gives me another perspective that I can relate to in my embroidery.

I like using different fabrics which may assist me with the final design. Silk, stranded cotton, gimp, metal thread are my preferred threads.

I have also completed several workshops in different techniques, which also give me the confidence to use them in my work.
