Alicja was born in Poland in the 1950s. She came to Australia in 1980 and settled permanently in Adelaide. In Poland, she worked in the film industry as a costume designer. Among other productions, she worked on the TV series 40-latek (Being Forty) and the film Zapami?taj imi? swoje (Remember Your Name).In Adelaide, she took on various jobs: in a tailor’s studio, a factory, a cake shop, a nursing home, and also at the Dom Polski Centre, where she worked for a number of years as a waitress.During this time, she studied Visual Arts at the University of South Australia for about two and a half years. Her passion has always been sketching, drawing, and painting, but it was only in the 2010s, after joining the Australian-Polish Arts Society of SA, that she began to paint more regularly. These days, Alicja prefers working with acrylics, water-based paints, charcoal, and pastels.
