Meet Adelka & Krakus, our festival mascots
Adelka the Piping Shrike and Krakus the Rooster are the spirited duo bringing South Australia and Poland together in celebration!
Our proud rooster mascot takes his name from Krakus, the legendary founder of Kraków, Poland’s royal city. In Polish folklore, the rooster is a symbol of joy and courage. Just like his namesake, Krakus stands tall, ready to bring the vibrant energy of Poland to our festival.
Adelka is inspired by South Australia’s symbolic bird, the Piping Shrike, whose black and white feathers soar across our state flag. Just like the clear South Australian skies she calls home, Adelka represents freedom, spirit and community pride. Her name comes from ‘Adelaide,’ the city she watches over.
Together, they embody the heart of our festival: two cultures, one celebration, united in community spirit.
Keep an eye out as Adelka and Krakus come to life in the lead-up to, and throughout, the festival!
